Many a time we may feel that every player of the side which has won an ICC World Cup in the cricketing history might have made a hell lot of efforts. The team must have witnessed an equal contribution from every single player in the 15 men squad. However, it is not valid for all the players, as few cricketers were initially selected in the team but didn’t play a single match and ended up winning the World Cup.

Along with Mitchell Johnson, Brad Haddin was also on the sideline during that entire World Cup. The wicket-keeper batsman lost his place in the playing XI as the side already featured the likes of Adam Gilchrist in it.

The legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Marvan Atapattu had seen tremendous ups and downs in his career, along with scoring 13000 international runs under his bat. He was axed from many formats and later on made his comeback during the 1996 ICC World Cup. Owing to the presence of extra-ordinary cricketers such as Jayasuriya, Ranatunga, Aravinda De Silva, and many more, Atapattu just kept on warming the bench during the entire tournament. As his home nation went on to win the title that year, he etched his name in this list.
