T20 World Cup 2024 has just begun, but it looks like last edition’s runners-up Pakistan could be eliminated soon. The Men in Green have suffered two defeats in their first two matches of this year’s tournament. They shockingly lost in a Super Over against USA and then went down in a low-scoring thriller against India yesterday.

Despite having so many experienced players in the squad, Pakistan have struggled in the tournament. One of the main reasons behind their struggle could be the fact that they have not figured out their best combinations for the pitches in USA just yet.

Luckily for Pakistan, they still have two matches in the group stage, and both are against lower-ranked teams. If they make the following two changes, Pakistan can bounce back against Canada.

    1. Azam Khan should be back in Pakistan playing XI for the next T20 World Cup 2024 match

Explosive wicketkeeper batter Azam Khan was picked in the playing XI for the match against USA, but he got out for a golden duck. Hence, the team management left him out and selected Imad Wasim instead. Imad scored 15 runs off 23 balls in the death overs against India, and ended up costing a win for his nation.

It is better to have a hit and miss player like Azam, who can make the match one-sided if he gets going instead of having a bits and pieces all-rounder like Imad in the team.

    2. Saim Ayub in for Mohammad Rizwan

Mohammad Rizwan batted 44 balls and scored only 31 runs against India. To make things worse, he defended against other bowlers and tried for a big shot against Jasprit Bumrah, thereby losing his wicket. It’s time to leave him out and bring in Saim Ayub, who can play with intent at the top.
