The craze of T20 World Cup 2024 will hit its peak today as India take on Pakistan in New York. The Indian cricket team and the Pakistan cricket team have reached the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium for the next chapter in the greatest rivalry. India currently have a 6-1 in the head-to-head record against Pakistan at the grandest stage of them all.
While all eyes are on the India vs Pakistan match, there are also a couple of cricketers, who will be doing commentary and working as cricket experts for this match without announcing retirement. Generally, the players first retire from all formats of cricket before taking up the mic. However, here’s a list of the two players who are yet to announce retirement but working as commentators in the T20 World Cup 2024.
1. Steve Smith is working as a commentator in T20 World Cup 2024
Steve Smith was the captain of the Australian team a few years ago. In fact, he was also a part of the Australian squad that won the T20 World Cup in 2021. However, three years later, Smith is not a first-choice player for the Australian side in the T20I format.
He continues to be the vice-captain of his country in ODIs and Test cricket. However, in the shortest format of the game, he has no place, and now he is working as a commentator for Star Sports.
2. Piyush Chawla
Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla has been playing for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. The veteran spinner has not received a place in the Indian cricket team for a long time, but he has not given up yet.
Chawla continues to go through the grind in domestic cricket and IPL. He has joined Star Sports as an English and Hindi commentator for the T20 World Cup right now.
