IPL is the number one cricket league on earth right now, and almost all cricketers wish to earn a contract from the Indian Premier League franchises. The tournament will return in March 2023, where 10 teams will compete against each other to win the prestigious prize.

Last year, IPL happened in Maharashtra, West Bengal and Gujarat. Bio-bubble rules were in place because of COVID-19 pandemic. The bio-bubble was also in place for IPL 2020 and 2021. Interestingly, some players played in IPL 2020 but then did not return to the league in 2021 and 2022.

Two of those names who missed 2021 and 2022 seasons have registered themselves for the upcoming IPL Auction 2023. Here is a list of those two players:

1. Tom Banton has registered for IPL 2023 Auction

Many fans would remember that before the IPL 2020 Auction, there was a lot of hype surrounding the name of Tom Banton. He scored heaps of runs in county cricket, and many franchises were reportedly enquired for his availability.

However, at the 2020 Auction, only Kolkata Knight Riders bid for him. Banton made his debut for KKR in 2020 but could not make much of an impact. He skipped the 2021 and 2022 seasons but has put himself in the 2-crore band category for 2023 Auction.

2. Jason Roy

Jason Roy, who skipped the 2021 and 2022 seasons, is also present in the auction list for the 2023 season. The England opener earned a contract from the champions Gujarat Titans. However, he did not turn up for the franchise due to some personal reasons.

It is likely that Roy may go unsold at the 2023 auction as well because he has a habit of pulling out his name at the last moment. No franchise would want to sign such a player, considering how it can impact the team combination.
