IPL is the world’s toughest T20 league. It is not just the world’s toughest T20 league, but it is also a cash-rich tournament, where cricketers can earn in crores if they have the right talent. In the Indian Premier League 2024 season, Australian fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc will take more than 20 crore INR each home for representing Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Both teams have finished as the Top 2 teams in the standings, which shows that the decision made by the owners was perfect. However, there are some underrated talents in this league, who have not yet received the salaries which they deserve. They are playing at base price in the league, but there are other tournaments, where these players have earned more.
In this listicle now, we will look at the two such underrated names from the Indian Premier League, who earn more money in other T20 leagues.
1. Matheesha Pathirana’s LPL contract price is 5 times more than his IPL salary
The first name to feature on the list is Sri Lanka’s slingy right-arm fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana. Popularly known as Malinga Jr., Pathirana came in as a replacement for Chennai Super Kings in 2022. CSK roped him in for just 20 lakh and retained him for the same price in 2023 and 2024.
Pathirana recently got auctioned at the Lanka Premier League 2024 auction. Colombo Strikers went all out for him and signed him for USD 120,000, which approximately equals to INR 1 crore.
2. Sai Sudharsan earns more in TNPL
Gujarat Titans’ left-handed batter Sai Sudharsan earned a 20 lakh deal from the Indian Premier League franchise at the 2022 mega auction. Sudharsan has justified his selection and became a regular member of the GT squad in 2024. He even made his debut for India.
Sudharsan was auctioned in the TNPL 2023 Auction. Lyca Kovai Kings went all out for him and secured the southpaw’s services for 21.6 lakh, which is more than his IPL earnings.
