Punjab Kings may consider hiring a new head coach for IPL 2024 after their failure in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Mohali-based franchise finished eighth in the IPL 2023 points table, having registered only six wins from 14 matches. They finished outside the Top 4 for the ninth consecutive season.
The team owners have always done a great job at the auction for the Punjab Kings, but somehow the team management fails to use the players well, leading to poor results. Trevor Bayliss was the head coach of the Punjab Kings in IPL 2023. He used his youngsters well but could not make full use of the experienced players that he had in his squad.
Given how frequently Punjab Kings have changed their coaches in IPL, it should not be a surprise if Bayliss loses his contract soon. Here’s a list of the three big names who can replace Trevor Bayliss as Punjab Kings head coach in IPL 2024.
1. Eoin Morgan can become Punjab Kings head coach in IPL 2024
Punjab Kings need a brilliant tactician and a fresh name in the coaching staff who can bring about a positive change in the team. Former Punjab player Eoin Morgan can be the perfect candidate for this job. Morgan can bond well with his former England teammates Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone as well.
2. Chris Gayle
A wildcard candid for this job will be another former Punjab player Chris Gayle. The former West Indies captain is known to be a cool person. Fans recently saw how Gujarat Titans achieved enormous success under Ashish Nehra. Perhaps, Gayle can do a similar job for the Kings.
3. Darren Sammy
Darren Sammy recently became the new coach of the West Indies ODI and T20I teams. The Punjab Kings can follow his performances, and then decide, whether they should hire him as a coach. Like Morgan and Gayle, Sammy has played for the Punjab Kings in the past.
