As per reports, IPL 2025 will have a Mega-Auction. On that note, here, we take a look at three foreigners who may not be retained before the IPL 2025 Mega Auction if they fail in IPL 2024.
Some foreigners are in line to be retained before IPL 2025. However, all of it could depend on how they perform in the upcoming season of IPL 2025. We take a look at some of the names in the below headings.
1) Pat Cummins
Having spent in excess of INR 20 Cr, it was obvious that SRH was going to appoint Pat Cummins as their skipper. However, it may not be a long-term plan by the franchise. He is not a great T20 player and is someone who could pull out of IPL in the future. Hence, SRH might not retain him if he has an average campaign in IPL 2024.
2) Andre Russell might not be retained before the IPL 2025 Auctions
Andre Russell is one of the foreigners who may not be retained before the IPL 2025 Mega Auction if they fail in IPL 2024. Even before IPL 2024 Auctions, there were reports that he would be released. However, KKR placed trust in him. This is despite him not being at his best in the recent seasons. Now, considering his age, if Russell has an average IPL 2024, he will surely not be retained.
3) Anrich Nortje
Anrich Nortje is a top-tier pacer but injuries are eating the best years of his career. This could be the case in IPL, as well. If he does not keep himself fit for the full IPL 2024 or if he does not perform well, DC could consider releasing the South African speedster.
