On Monday (September 12), the BCCI announced India’s squad, that will fly to Australia for the T20 World Cup 2022. All eyes were on the squad after the Men in Blue’s poor show in the Asia Cup 2022. The selectors were expected to deliver a couple of surprises to the fans.

However, the squad picked was almost the same that played the continental cup. Only some obvious changes like the return of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were offered. While Arshdeep Singh managed to retain his spot, Avesh Khan wasn’t included.

But if we compare the year’s squad to the last edition’s squad, the fortunes of many cricketers have changed. Here, in this article, we will take a look at the three names who played the last edition but will miss this year’s T20 World Cup.

1) Ravindra Jadeja

There is no doubt that Ravindra Jadeja would have been selected if not for his injury. Jadeja underwent knee surgery and will require more time to be match-fit. Rohit Sharma’s side will be heading into the tournament without the services of Jadeja, who has been a reliable name for them in the past few years.

2) Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan was regularly in the team’s setup following the 2021 T20 World Cup and at one point, it seemed that he might be made a regular name. But things have not gone as everyone anticipated as the left-handed batter lost his position in the side in the recent series owing to inconsistency with the bat.

3) Varun Chakravarthy

Men in Blue preferred mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy over Yuzvendra Chahal in the last edition. However, the decision turned out to be a blunder as Chakravarthy failed to deliver on the big stage. Since then, he hasn’t featured in any games for the national side and even in IPL 2022, he had a below par season.
