Chennai Super Kings will defend their title in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. They won their fifth title, beating the Gujarat Titans in the final in Ahmedabad. The coming season is likely to be the final season for MS Dhoni as well. He himself said that the 2024 edition would be the final season for him. But the biggest question will be who will be the next wicketkeeper after MS Dhoni for CSK.
Though this will be in the minds of the franchise as well, they might pick some wicket-keeping options at the coming IPL 2024 auction. As per CSK’s auction strategy, it looks like Chennai might go with an Indian player. 1. K.S. Bharat
K.S. Bharat made his IPL debut for the RCB in 2021. He has played 10 games so far and scored 199 runs at an average of 28.43. CSK can try him because he also has exposure to international matches. Bharat has played five tests for India, including the WTC 2023 final. CSK can groom him under Dhoni.
2. Baba Indrajith
Baba Indrajith is also on the list of uncapped wicketkeepers at the auction. He will be available for a price of INR 20 lakh. He made his IPL debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022 and went unsold in 2023. But his domestic numbers are pretty good, and CSK can sign him for the future. He is also a local player and has played in Chennai his whole life.
3. Ricky Bhui
Ricky Bhui is another wicketkeeper batter who will be available at the auction for a price of INR 20 lakh. He has also played in the IPL. The 29-year-old made his IPL debut in 2018 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Though he has only played two IPL games, he is pretty experienced at the domestic level and can be a prospect to look for in the future. CSK can try him at the IPL 2024 auction.
