The Secret Bid is a concept that has not been used in the Indian Premier League in recent years. When two teams are ready to match the same amount for a player, a secret bid happens and the team with the highest quote goes on to win the player. The excess amount will go to BCCI and not the player. Back in the initial years, this rule came into play at the auctions. On that note, in this article, we take a look at the list of three players who were signed by a secret bid in IPL History.

1) Shane Bond – Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL 2010)

Shane Bond is one of the three players who were subject to a secret bid in IPL history. After ending his association with ICL, the Kiwi pacer was in the auctions. He was popular for his pace and accuracy. Hence, there was a big chance teams would stretch for the player. KKR and Deccan Chargers were ready to pay the same amount and through the “silent bid”, Bond went to KKR. His price stood at $750,000.

2) Kieron Pollard – Mumbai Indians (IPL 2010)

One of the greatest all-rounders that the league has seen, Pollard came into the limelight after his show in Champions League T20. At IPL 2010 Auctions, MI, CSK & RCB were all ready to pay the same amount to the West Indian. Hence, the tie-breaker rule came into picture. Pollard went to Mumbai Indians for $750,000 and he will represent the franchise from IPL 2022, as well.
