On Saturday, Delhi Capitals announced that it had parted ways with Ricky Ponting as the Head Coach. There was also an interview in which Sourav reportedly announced that he would be the next Head Coach of the franchise.
1) Sourav Ganguly can be too straightforward as a Coach
Even in the ‘reported’ interview published on Saturday, Dada appeared too harsh on Ricky Ponting and made an announcement himself. Even in the past, the former India captain has been involved in such issues. As a Head Coach, player-management skills are key, especially in the current era and in a league like IPL.
2) Delhi Capitals needs a coach with a fresher approach
DC needs someone with fresh ideas and this is one of the reasons why Delhi Capitals must not appoint Sourav Ganguly as the next Head Coach. Delhi Capitals as a franchise has not moved much in recent years. Every franchise is looking to get in coaches with focus on fresher ideas relevant to the modern T20 game. The likes of Shane Watson could be ideal here. It is not sure if Ganguly can be a good fit in this regard,
3) Dada does not have relevant coaching experience
Yes, in the past, as well, coaches have come without experience. In fact, India Head Coach Gautam Gambhir does not have experience as a coach. However, Gambhir played a lot of T20 matches and was successful as a captain. In the current era, coaching experience is a must for a T20 side. Dada does not have that and hence, this can cause a few problems for the side.
