    IPL 2023 will be the first edition of the Indian Premier League to be played in the home and away format after the 2019 season. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian Premier League 2020 season happened behind closed doors in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

    In 2021, BCCI conducted the first phase of the tournament at neutral venues in India but was forced to shift the tournament to the UAE. In 2022, all matches of the tournament’s league stage happened at four venues in Maharashtra. The playoffs happened in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

    Finally, in IPL 2023, the home and away format will return. Each team will play a lot of home matches at the stadiums in front of their home fans. There are some new venues which the fans might see for the first time during the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. Here’s a list of three such venues:

    1. Lucknow will host IPL 2023 matches

    Lucknow Super Giants made their debut in IPL 2022. They did not get to play any matches at home in their first season, but the KL Rahul-led outfit will host other teams at the Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium this year.

    The venue has two different types of pitches. It will be exciting to see how the LSG team performs on their home turf in the 2023 season.

    2. Assam might host IPL 2023 matches

    Not many fans would know that Rajasthan Royals wanted to play some of their home matches at Guwahati’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium in 2020. However, the season was shifted to the UAE. RR might think of playing some home games in Assam this year.

    3. Jodhpur

    Jodhpur’s Barkatullah Khan Stadium received a lot of attention from the fans during the Legends League Cricket tournament. Jodhpur is in Rajasthan only, and RR could use it as a home venue if needed.
