In a big announcement, Mr. IPL Suresh Raina has confirmed that he will register himself for the upcoming IPL 2023 Auction. Raina, who went unsold at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, has decided to put his name under the hammer once again. After going unsold last season, Raina decided to work as a commentator for Star Sports.
Some fans thought that Raina has played his last cricket match, but the left-handed batter recently said that he is looking forward to earning some bids at the IPL 2023 Auction.
“Yes, I have been working really hard and spending lot of time in the nets. I am focusing on keeping my basics intact and not too much thinking of IPL 2023 auction. But I would love to make a return,” Raina said.
Now that the former Indian cricketer has confirmed his comeback, here’s a list of three teams that could buy him at the auction.
1. Will Gujarat Titans rope in Suresh Raina for IPL 2023?
Gujarat Titans lacked a proper number three batter who could play the anchor’s role for the team in IPL 2022. They tried Vijay Shankar, Sai Sudharsan and Matthew Wade, but none of them proved to be a long-term solution. Someone as experienced as Raina could be a valuable addition to GT.
2. Will Chennai Super Kings sign Suresh Raina?
Chennai Super Kings surprisingly did not show any interest in buying Raina’s services at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. He went unsold for the first time, and CSK said that Raina would not fit in their team. After a disappointing show in IPL 2022, CSK may look to re-sign their experienced star.
3. Kolkata Knight Riders
Two-time champions KKR have a stacked batting lineup comprising some big hitters, but they need an experienced player who could hold one end and anchor the innings. Raina seems perfect for that position.
