Many teams would line him up despite his age. However, a few franchises could stay away from the Indian skipper. We talk about these players below.
1) Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Actually, RCB needs an opener and a skipper. Rohit Sharma would have been a perfect fit. However, it could be risky to have two ageing cricketers operate as an opener. Plus, it would be too much to handle if there are two superstars of Indian cricket in the same team. RCB might instead target someone like KL Rahul to add more balance to the setup.
2) Rajasthan Royals
RR is one of the teams which may not target Rohit Sharma if he is available in IPL 2025 Auctions. The franchise has one of the best opening combinations in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler. This is the strength of the squad. Both players are also likely to be retained which means that RR cannot afford to change this combination. Also, Rohit Sharma is not a long-term choice and therefore, RR might not be ready to invest on him.
3) Kolkata Knight Riders may not target Rohit Sharma in IPL 2025 Auctions
KKR already has a set template for their opening combination. Sunil Narine is sure to be retained and will also get at least one more season as an opener. The team will try hard for Phil Salt and even if they cannot get him, they will try for a wicket-keeper batter. Hence, there is no space for Rohit Sharma because he would be at his best as an opener.
