IPL 2025 Mega Auction is just around the corner. The retention list of all 10 teams before the mega event came out last night. There were some big surprises. Several players have received a boost in their salaries. One of the biggest gainers was Dhruv Jurel, whose salary has increased from 20 lakh to 14 crore before the new season.
While a majority of the players have received an increased salary in the new season, there are four such cricketers, who accepted to stay with their teams even though the salary went down. Here’s a list of four such selfless players.
1. MS Dhoni’s salary has reduced by 8 crore before IPL 2025 Mega Auction
MS Dhoni received 12 crore per IPL season from 2022 to 2024. He was available for retention as an uncapped player for the 2025 season, which is why Chennai Super Kings retained him for just 4 crore before the mega auction.
2. Rahul Tewatia’s salary has reduced by 5 crore before IPL 2025 Mega Auction
Another uncapped player to feature on the list is Rahul Tewatia. The uncapped Indian all-rounder chose to stay with the Gujarat Titans even though the IPL 2022 champions offered him a salary of 4 crore. Back in 2022, GT signed Tewatia for 9 crore, and they paid him the same amount in 2023 and 2024.
3. Shahrukh Khan
Uncapped Indian all-rounder Shahrukh Khan also preferred to sign a deal with Gujarat Titans again at the price of 4 crore. The Tamil Nadu-based player received a mega deal worth 7.75 crore from the Titans in 2024, but he has selflessly accepted a pay cut of 3.75 crore.
4. Pat Cummins
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins is the only overseas player to feature on this list. Cummins received a whopping INR 20.5 crore deal from SRH last season. This season, Cummins has agreed to continue playing for SRH for a sum of INR 18 crore, which is down by 2.5 crore.
