Indian cricketers are among the most popular names in world cricket. Almost every oversea star dreams of sharing the dressing room with Indian cricketers one day. However, the Indian cricketers themselves experience cut-throat competition for a place in the playing XI.
Even if a player fails in two or three matches, his position comes under the scanner. Some debutants lost their place in the team despite performing decently on debut. Some fans think that once a player is 35 or older, the team should think of replacing him with a youngster.
However, the following four Indian cricketers had a great run of form in international cricket even after turning 35 years old.
1. One of the retired Indian cricketers – Sachin Tendulkar
Regarded by many as the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar scored heaps of runs for the nation after turning 35. He became the first ODI double centurion at the age of 37 and then performed exceptionally well in the 2011 World Cup as well.
2. One of the retired Indian cricketers – MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni turned 35 on July 7, 2016. He played some great knocks for India in ODIs and T20Is after his 35th birthday. His most memorable performance was on the Australian tour of 2019, where he won the Man of the Series in ODI.
3. Ashish Nehra
Ashish Nehra made a remarkable comeback to the Indian T20I team in 2015/16. He even played for the Men in Blue in the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 and received a grand farewell in 2017.
4. Dinesh Karthik
Just when everyone thought Dinesh Karthik would never play for India again, he made a comeback to the team after a stellar IPL 2022 season with RCB. Karthik is 37 years old now and has returned to the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
