Winning a Test match in SENA countries is the dream of many cricketers born outside those four countries. The Indian team tours South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia for Test cricket at least once in a duration of five years. Although India visits the places frequently, the Indian team does not have too many wins to show in SENA countries.
The ratio has been gradually improving though ever since Virat Kohli became the Indian Test captain. The Indian team has been too good in overseas Tests after that. In fact, a few days ago, under the captaincy of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian team beat Australia by a colossal margin at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
Multiple Indian players now have 10 or more wins in SENA nations after the victory at the Optus Stadium. Here’s a list of four such players.
4. Ajinkya Rahane – 10 wins in SENA countries
Ajinkya Rahane is no longer a part of the Indian Test squad. However, there was a time when he was an important part of the middle-order of the team. Rahane has been a part of the Indian playing XI in 10 victorious matches in SENA nations, and the most memorable ones were under his captaincy in BGT 2020/21.
3. Virat Kohli – 10 wins in SENA countries
After Virat Kohli took over as the Indian Test captain, the results of the team changed in SENA nations. Kohli has also been a part of 10 wins in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia. The recent win in Perth was Kohli’s 10th victory.
2. Jasprit Bumrah – 10 wins
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has also played a massive role in the success that the Indian team has achieved in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia. Bumrah won his 10th Test as a player, and 1st as a captain in SENA nations in Perth.
1. Cheteshwar Pujara – 11 wins
