Mukesh Choudhary will likely miss the entire IPL 2023 season, and Chennai Super Kings may have to sign a replacement for him soon. According to a report by Cricbuzz, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, Kasi Viswanathan has clarified that Mukesh is dealing with an injury right now, and he is unlikely to regain full fitness before the season starts.
Chennai Super Kings will play their first match of IPL 2023 against the Gujarat Titans next Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Here’s a list of four players whom CSK can target as a replacement for Mukesh Choudhary:
1. Sandeep Warrier can be the replacement for Mukesh Choudhary
Sandeep Warrier made his T20I debut for India in 2021. Quite surprisingly, he has not earned an IPL contract in recent times. As he has played domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu, CSK can think of roping in him as a replacement.
2. Mujtaba Yousuf can be a replacement for Mukesh Choudhary
Jammu and Kashmir players have impressed fans in the IPL. Mujtaba Yousuf can be the star from Jammu and Kashmir. Here’s what former CSK vice-captain Suresh Raina said about the young left-arm pacer recently:
“I played with Mujtaba (Yousuf) in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. As a left-arm fast bowler, he has a good action and good control.”
3. Dhawal Kulkarni
CSK have a habit of signing experienced players in the IPL. One such seasoned pro who is available in the list of unsold players is Dhawal Kulkarni. The right-arm pacer is a former IPL champion, who has played for Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians. He can be a great addition to the CSK squad.
4. Arzan Nagwaswalla
If CSK wish to groom another left-arm seamer like Mukesh Choudhary, Gujarat’s Arzan Nagwaswalla can be a great choice. He has been a support bowler for Team India and IPL teams.
