Mumbai Indians will likely make some major changes to their squad before the IPL 2024 season. Despite having one of the weakest bowling lineups in the tournament, MI punched above their weight and qualified for the playoffs. MI defeated the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator but lost against the Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 2.
MI did a decent job in IPL 2023, but some fans felt that they could have won the title if they had a better bowling attack. In this listicle now, we will look at the four players whom Mumbai Indians might release before the IPL 2024 Auction:
1. Mumbai Indians will likely release Chris Jordan before IPL 2024
Chris Jordan joined MI as a replacement for Jofra Archer. While Mumbai had high hopes from him as a death overs specialist, Jordan could not match the expectations. It is unlikely that Jordan will receive another deal from Mumbai.
2. Hrithik Shokeen
Hrithik Shokeen had an impressive season in 2022, but he could not continue in the same vein this season. Shokeen took only three wickets and scored 23 runs in eight matches. MI will think twice before retaining him.
3. Arshad Khan
Mumbai Indians fans had high hopes from Arshad Khan before the 2023 season. He had been with MI for quite some time and had been working hard in the nets. However, the uncapped pacer could not impress much as he took five wickets in six matches at an economy rate of 13.41.
4. Duan Jansen may not play for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024
Marco Jansen’s twin brother Duan may not get another contract from MI. He played one match this year, where he bowled a spell of 1/53. Perhaps, MI may release him next year and consider buying him two years later if he improves his bowling.
