Cricket stars have become very popular across the planet because of the level of competition and thrill witnessed in the sport these days. Recently, the Indian cricket team played a Test match against the England cricket team at the Home of Cricket, the Mecca of Cricket, Lord’s Cricket Ground. KL Rahul’s century placed India in a comfortable position in the initial phase.

However, Joe Root’s century helped the England cricket team gain a 27-run first-innings lead. The Indian cricket team lost its top-early batsmen in the second innings before they could take a big lead. Then, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah launched a brilliant counter-attack. Eventually, their ninth-wicket partnership helped the Indian cricket team defeat the England cricket team.

Cricket has continued to be an unpredictable game, entertaining the fans across the world. Apart from Test cricket, the ODI and T20I formats are also very popular. There are players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah who play for India in all three formats. There are also some cricketers who only play a particular format. Sometimes, it has happened that a cricketer lost his place in one format’s playing XI because of his bad performance in another format. In this article, we will look at five such cricket stars.

Dinesh Karthik has not played international cricket since 2019 World Cup semifinal. He was not at his best in the ODI format during that time.

However, he also lost his place in the T20I team due to that. Karthik had a batting average of 60+ in T20Is in 2018, while his T20I strike rate in 2019 was 167.86.

2. Khaleel Ahmed

India is yet to find a proper replacement for Zaheer Khan. Khaleel Ahmed seemed like one, but he is no longer a regular member of the Indian team.

Ahmed struggled a bit in T20Is. However, in ODIs, he was a wicket-taking option. He took 3 wickets in his last ODI in a winning cause and still lost his place.

3. Subramaniam Badrinath

Subramaniam Badrinath played just one T20I match in his career. And in that match, the right-handed batsman won the Man of the Match award.

His performance in the subsequent ODI series against the West Indies was not up to the mark. As a result, Badrinath lost his place in India’s white-ball teams.

4. One of the underrated cricket stars – Ashok Dinda

Ashok Dinda helped India defeat Pakistan in his last T20I match. He took a 3-wicket haul in Ahmedabad, and in the match before that, he returned with figures of 1/26 in four overs.

But he did not prove so effective in the ODI format. Despite his good performance in his last T20I matches, Dinda never played T20I cricket for India again.

5. Suresh Raina

Not many fans would know Suresh Raina batted only one time in his last three T20Is. His chance to bat did not come in his career’s last T20I.

Raina scored 27 runs in his last T20I inning, and in the inning before that, he scored 69 runs off 45 deliveries. However, since he failed to fire in the ODI series against England, he lost his place in T20I team as well.
