IPL Commentators have gained enormous popularity in recent years. The craze of the Indian Premier League matches has increased every season, and with the growing viewership, there also has been a growth in the popularity of the commentators who share their views during the IPL matches.

Most of the commentators have never played in the Indian Premier League. Some of them have great IPL records like Suresh Raina, Dhawal Kulkarni, Pragyan Ojha, Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh. However, some fans might not know that the following five commentators also featured in the IPL as a player one day.

1. Aakash Chopra

One of the famous Hindi commentators Aakash Chopra donned the Kolkata Knight Riders jersey in the initial seasons. He played seven matches in IPL 2008 and 2009, scoring 53 runs at an average of 8.83. He played his best knock of 24 runs against Deccan Chargers.

2. Murali Kartik

Left-arm spinner Murali Kartik has been a regular member of the English commentary panel. He played for three teams, namely Kolkata Knight Riders, Pune Warriors and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the league.

3. Sanjay Bangar

Former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar is now a part of the RCB coaching panel. When the international season is on, Bangar appears on TV channels for Hindi commentary. He played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers in the league.

4. Rohan Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar’s son Rohan played two matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2010. He scored only two runs and failed to take any wickets.

5. Raiphi Gomez

Malyalam commentator Raiphi Gomez achieved the rare feat of playing for both Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the league. Gomez is the only Indian player in IPL history to have been a part of both PWI and KTK.
