    Cricket South Africa is set to conduct its own T20 cricket league from January next year and it is believed that all Six of the franchises have been picked-up by the Indian Premier League franchises.

    T20 cricket has become a great hit since its introduction back couple of years ago. The length of the match, which is about 3 hours, is what makes it a great format to watch.

    With the growth of the T20 format, the ICC introduced the T20 World Cup in 2007 while the very next year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) introduced the Indian Premier League (IPL), which became an instant hit and is today one of the big T20 cricket league and is one of most valuable league among all other sports.

    With the growth and the income that the IPL generates, the other Cricket boards have also opted towards that route and is conducting their own T20 league, and no different is South Africa.

    The Cricket South Africa (CSA) is set to hold its T20 league from next year and reportedly, all the 6 franchises have bought by the 6 IPL franchise owners, among them, Mumbai Indians’ owners Reliance owned by the business man Mukesh Ambani, has reportedly bought the Cape Town based franchise.

    Dewald Brevis

    The young South African batsman, who considers himself an all-round package, was bought by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction after his tremendous outing in the U19 World Cup. Brevis played in 6 matches in the IPL 2022 and scored 161 runs. He was one of the bright spot in Mumbai Indians’ dark season.

    Quinton de Kock

    Another Mumbai Indians player who could be signed by the MI owned Cape Town franchise is South Africa’s wicketkeeper batsman Quinton de Kock. While he is playing for the Lucknow Super Giants now in IPL, he was a important member of the team ever since joining them in 2018 and played till 2021. Most interestingly, he played for the Cape Town Blitz in the Mzansi Super League that was played for 2 seasons.

    21-years-old South African wicketkeeper batsman Tristan Stubbs is another player Cape Town can target. He player was originally not picked during the auction and came as a replacement for injured Tymall Mills. He played in 2 matches and only scored 2 runs. But the youngster has a bright future ahead and could be a great long term prospect.

    South African quickstar Marco Jansen made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians in 2021 and has ever since been an integral member of the South African team as well. While he may not be playing for the franchise now, Jansen is very well known to the Mumbai management and could target him to include in their team. He has played 10 IPL matches and has taken 9 wickets. He has been an absolute superstar in South African conditions, taking 29 wickets in only 5 Test matches, and he is only 22-years-old.

    Tim David was picked-up by the Mumbai Indians for a hefty price in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. However, he was not given the proper opportunity at first, but when he got the opportunity, there was no stopping him. The Singapore international of Australian origin has a vast number of experience of playing in various T20 leagues. If he does registers for the South African league, don’t be surprised if he ends up at Cape Town.
