The Royal Challengers Bangalore qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2020, ending their three-year streak of bottom 4 finishes. Virat Kohli had an almost perfect squad by his side last year. Devdutt Padikkal solved many problems for the Royal Challengers. However, the Bangalore-based franchise still could not end its title drought.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator to end their campaign. The Royal Challengers have let go of ten players and signed Daniel Sams and Harshal Patel in the trade window before IPL 2021 Auction. They have quite a few slots vacant in their squad, which could be used for some talented overseas players.

Here are the five foreign stars the Royal Challengers Bangalore could target in IPL Auction 2021.

5. Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell has returned to the IPL 2021 Auction pool after a disastrous season with the Kings XI Punjab in the United Arab Emirates. Although Maxwell did not perform well last year, he will likely earn another massive contract this year.

Maxwell is a player who can change the game with his batting, bowling, and even fielding. The pitch at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will suit his aggressive playing styles. Thus, RCB could go after him.

4. Steve Smith

Steve Smith played for the Rajasthan Royals in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League. Smith was the captain of RR, but the team, unfortunately, finished in the last position in 2020.

Smith will go under the hammer in IPL 2021. The reason why RCB could sign him is that they require a top-order batsman. Smith could take Aaron Finch’s spot in the squad. Virat Kohli could open with Padikkal, with Smith at number three.

3. Mitchell McClenaghan

Mitchell McClenaghan achieved much success in the IPL when he bowled on the flat pitch of the Wankhede Stadium. McClenaghan has come back to the auction after MI released him.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore could sign him in the auction because they have released Dale Steyn, Chris Morris, and Isuru Udana. Last year, Udana did a decent job as a left-arm seamer. This year, McClenaghan could possibly do that for RCB.

2. Chris Morris

As mentioned ahead, the Royal Challengers Bangalore released Chris Morris before IPL 2021 Auction. However, Mike Hesson stated that his price tag was one of the main reasons why RCB released him.

If RCB could get him for a cheaper price, they would not mind having Morris back in the squad. The South African star played a vital role in RCB’s success last year. He could perhaps be more effective with the bat at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

1. Mitchell Starc

The Royal Challengers Bangalore need a big overseas name in their fast-bowling department. They have not retained their foreign pacers and also released Umesh Yadav.

Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj can lead the attack, and a left-arm pacer’s presence will only help the RCB side. Mitchell Starc was quite successful in his previous stint with the franchise. The same could likely happen if RCB sign him in the 2021 Auction. Starc will be keen to play IPL this year because the T20 World Cup 2021 will take place in India.
