Very few other jobs on the planet carry as much competition as the slots in the Indian Cricket Team do. In a country with a massive population where everyone can wield a willow and take a ball in hand, obviously, the fight for places in the National Team is intense.

Talking about the Indian T20 Team, often, you do not get plenty of opportunities to impress the team management. One phase of bad form and you may have to start it all over again. There are a few players who were part of the team once but are out of contention now. However, they deserve a chance in the team due to good form. We talk about five such cricketers in this article.

1. Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin was once the leader of the Indian spin attack across formats. However, at the moment, the man from Chennai is only part of the Test squad. That said, in recent years, Ashwin has also done decently well in the T20 format. He represented the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020 and contributed considerably to the team’s success. Moreover, the tall player is in brilliant form at the moment and that can easily translate to some scintillation performances for the Indian T20 Team. With the T20 World Cup around, Team India must explore as many options as possible. Granting a chance to Ashwin could be an appealing option to try out.

2. Siddarth Kaul

There were high expectations from Siddarth Kaul when he broke into the Indian Team. However, the Punjab man leaked a lot of runs in the limited chances he got and later fell out of favour. The same happened when he turned up for SRH after a few seasons in which he was successful. Nevertheless, the 2008 U19 World Cup winner has now found form. He did extremely well in SMAT 2021 and showed that he still had wicket-taking skills. Hence, he deserves another chance with the Indian Cricket Team.

3. Sandeep Sharma

There are very few bowlers who appear threatening whenever they come on to bowl. Sandeep Sharma is one such pacer. Especially in the power play, Sandeep threatens the best of batsmen. The fact that Virat Kohli himself struggles against Sandeep is proof of the Punjab speedster’s competence. When the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar do not pick wickets, Sandeep can be a good option. He is efficient with his act and very rarely tends to leak runs. Having played for India before, Sandeep thoroughly deserves another opportunity.

4. Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube is not in contention at the moment. Although he has not done well in IPL, Dube has been pretty decent in the domestic competitions. He finishes most of the games for Mumbai and even picks wickets with his medium-pace regularly. Therefore, there can be an opening made for Dube so that he can get a few more chances to come good.

5. Rishi Dhawan

Every time a pace-bowling all-rounder does well in India, he gets a call up to the national team. The same happened with players like Stuart Binny. However, it is only after them not performing that the reality settles in. Rishi Dhawan is also one such similar cricketer. However, the former KKR player is an excellent form in the domestic circuit. He consistently picks wickets and scores runs for his side. Rishi has turned himself into a complete all-rounder. Therefore, it might not be a bad idea if he is awarded another run in the blue jersey.
