The special thing about Road Safety World Series 2021 is that the retired players have returned to the field to entertain the fans. Big names like Virender Sehwag, Sanath Jayasuriya, Sachin Tendulkar, Kevin Pietersen, Irfan Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, Brian Lara, and TM Dilshan have come back to the cricket field to do what they do the best.

The India Legends have won three out of their first four matches. Sachin Tendulkar is the captain of India Legends. Some players of this India Legends team had made their debut under MS Dhoni, who is still playing IPL, but these players are now retired and playing RSWS 2021.

Vinay Kumar recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The Davanagere Expree called it a day on his career after playing one Test match, 31 ODIs, and nine T20I games for Team India. Vinay was playing domestic cricket since 2004.

However, he received a place in the Indian team for the first time in the 2010 ICC T20 World Cup. Vinay made his debut against Sri Lanka at Gros Islet. MS Dhoni was the team’s captain in that game, where Sri Lanka beat India by five wickets.

4. Pragyan Ojha

Left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha bowled a terrific spell of 2/12 against the Bangladesh Legends in the first match of the Road Safety World Series 2021. Ojha was India’s top spinner in Test cricket once upon a time.

Ojha played 24 Tests, 18 ODIs, and six T20Is for the Indian cricket team. His maiden appearance for India came against Bangladesh under MS Dhoni’s leadership during Asia Cup 2008.

3. Manpreet Gony

Manpreet Gony is one of the many Indian players who owes his success to the Chennai Super Kings. Courtesy of his brilliant performances for CSK, Gony made it to the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2008.

Gony made his ODI debut against Hong Kong under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. However, he could play only one more international match for India. He has retired from all forms now and is playing in T20 leagues across the world.

2. Subramaniam Badrinath

Yet another former Chennai Super Kings player to appear on this list is the right-handed batsman Subramaniam Badrinath. The Tamil Nadu star unfortunately got hit wicket in the contest against the England Legends.

Badrinath started playing first-class cricket in 2000/01. He made his international debut in an ODI against Sri Lanka at Dambulla. MS Dhoni was the team’s skipper then, and India won that game by three wickets.

1. Yusuf Pathan

Baroda all-rounder Yusuf Pathan made his debut at the grandest stage of the first ever ICC T20 World Cup Final in 2007. Pathan replaced Virender Sehwag as India’s opener in the playing XI.

Pathan played under MS Dhoni’s captaincy and lifted the 2007 T20 World Cup title with the Men in Blue. Four years later, he even won the 50-over World Cup. It will be interesting to see if he could win the Road Safety World Series 2021 after retirement.
