Former cricketer and now a commentator and cricket analyst Aakash Chopra heaped praise on Indian opening batsman KL Rahul after the Karnataka batsman scored a magnificent century against South Africa on the Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test.

The Indian cricket team’s tour to South Africa has officially begun with the first Test match kicked-off on the 26th of December, on the Boxing Day.

The Indian team got off to a great start as the opening batsmen for the team, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul, both playing domestic cricket for Karnataka, added 117 runs for the first wicket before the former was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi.

However, KL Rahul, who had a slow start, continued to stich his inning ball-by-ball, went on to complete his century, which is his 7th Century of his Test career and most interestingly, he has scored 6 of them in 6 different Countries.

Aakash Chopra praised KL Rahul for consistent run of form

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra praised the 29-year-old batsman after his stunning batting performance. Chopra termed Rahul as ‘Kamaal Lajawab Rahul’.

Chopra stated that there is no country or fort that Rahul has not conquered and has unfurled his flag in all the countries where he has played. He continued that KL Rahul is the Lord of Lord’s after he scored 129 runs in England’s Lord’s this year, and also termed him Centurion at Centurion for his knock yesterday, stated Aakash Chopra during a latest video uploaded on his YouTube channel.

India vs South Africa 1st Test 2021-2022

Talking about the match, experts had termed this series as one of the hardest series for India as the Men in Blue have failed to win a series in the African country for the last 29 years and has won only three times.

The coin was in favour of away captain Virat Kohli as India opted to Bat first. Mayank Agarwal took the charge while Rahul got off to a slow start.

Mayank Agarwal went on to complete his half-century and was dismissed for 60 runs from 123 balls. Thereafter, Rahul accelerated his inning and went on to complete his 7th century in his Test career. He had a good support from Virat Kohli before the Indian captain was dismissed for 35 runs.

Both Rahul and Rahane ended the day’s play on a solid note as Rahul remained not out for 122 runs while Rahane is unbeaten on 40 runs. India posted 272 runs for the loss of 3 wickets before the end of Day 1’s play.
