    ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2012 Captains: Where are they now?

    Asia Cup is the premier cricket tournament for the Asian countries. India won the previous edition of the Asia Cup which was hosted by the UAE. Not many fans would know that like the Cricket World Cup, Asia Cup also happens at the U-19 level. In 2012, some famous cricketers participated in the U-19 Asia Cup.

    In this article today, we will look at all the team captains of the Asian Cricket Council U-19 Asia Cup 2012 and where are those cricketers now.

    1. Afghanistan – Javed Ahmadi

    Top-order batter Javed Ahmadi captained Afghanistan U-19s in that tournament. Ahmadi has played three Tests, 47 ODIs and three T20Is for Afghanistan at the senior level by now.

    2. Bangladesh – Asif Ahmed

    Asif Ahmed captained the Bangladesh U-19s, but the team failed to qualify for the semifinals. Ahmed played for his country at the U-23 level as well but is yet to play at an international game at the senior level.

    3. Pakistan – Babar Azam

    Babar Azam led Pakistan U-19s to the Asia Cup Final in 2012. The final match ended in a tie. Azam is currently leading the senior Pakistan cricket team.

    4. Sri Lanka – Sanitha de Mel

    Sanitha de Mel captained Sri Lanka U-19s in the 2012 U-19 Asia Cup but is yet to play at international level. He played his last List-A match in 2019.

    5. Malyasia – Derek Duraisingam

    Derek Duraisingam could not make it big in his cricketing career after leading Malaysia U-19s in the 2012 Asia Cup. Derek played his last match in 2018.

    6. Qatar – Tamoor Sajjad

    Qatar also participated in that U-19 Asia Cup. Tamoor Sajjad captained the side. He has played 16 T20I matches for the senior Qatar cricket team so far.

    7. India – Unmukt Chand

    Unmukt Chand captained India U-19s in that tournament. India reached the final along with Pakistan. Chand has retired from Indian cricket and now playing in the USA.

    8. Nepal – Prithu Baskota

    Nepal’s captain in the 2012 U-19 Asia Cup was Prithu Baskota. He is yet to play international cricket at the senior level but recently played matches for Bagmati in 2021.
