Mumbai Indians (MI) are gearing up for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 mini-auction with a primary focus on bolstering their bowling attack, especially in the overseas pacers segment. Brad Hogg, the former Australian spinner, foresees MI, the five-time champions, going all in to secure top-notch overseas pacers.

With Jasprit Bumrah returning from injury, MI is eager to revamp its bowling unit after parting ways with Jofra Archer due to injury concerns during the 2023 edition. The emphasis is on finding a suitable replacement for Archer in the upcoming auction.

Hogg highlights the necessity for a fast bowler to complement Bumrah and Behrendorff, suggesting that MI might set their sights on Gerald Coetzee and Lance Morris to fortify their bowling arsenal.

“They need a quick bowler despite the addition of Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya. To complement Bumrah and Behrendorff, they still need someone. They may initially pursue Coetzee, hoping to secure him at a reasonable price. If not Coetzee, then Lance Morris could be on their radar. If MI manages to acquire both Coetzee and Morris, they will present a formidable challenge to GT due to their well-balanced lineup,” stated Brad Hogg on his YouTube channel.

In addition to MI’s strategies, Hogg also explores Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) auction needs, considering the team’s significant player releases and the return of Gautam Gambhir as a mentor and Shreyas Iyer as captain.

“They have released numerous players and need to make several acquisitions in the auction. I believe they will go after Pat Cummins and may target Tyagi for additional pace in the Indian department, along with Harshal Patel,” he added.
