BCCI makes big announcement for all Indian medalists of Tokyo Olympics

The 2021 Tokyo Olympics has been great for India. People from many fields of sport grabbed attention from different people nationwide. The Prime Minister and Chief Ministers of various states have congratulated all those who have achieved significant milestones in their field of sport, respectively. Also, some have announced cash rewards to those who have grabbed medals in different categories.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come forward to honor every medal winner in each category individually. The Board’s secretary Jay Shah mentioned a specific prize amount as a reward for the medals they have won. Ever since the first medal was won by Mirabai Chanu this year, Mr. Shah was very keen on congratulating the winners on various categories later.

On that note, the secretary of BCCI listed out the exact prize amount to be rewarded to those medalists. Mirabai Chanu, who has grabbed a silver medal in the women’s weightlifting (49 kg) category, is about to receive 50 lakhs as a reward. Following her, another 50 lakh is about to be rewarded to Ravi Kumar Dahiya, who had also won a silver medal in the men’s wrestling (57kg) category.

With that being said, P.V Sindhu, who had won the bronze medal in the Women’s Singles Badminton category, will be getting a prize amount of 25 lakh from BCCI. Also, Lovlina Borgohain won the bronze medal in Women’s Welterweight Boxing, and Bajrang Punia, the winner of the bronze medal in Men’s Freestyle wrestling (65 kg) would be rewarded with 25 lakh each respectively.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announces big prizes for Neeraj Chopra and men’s hockey team

As a gesture of appreciation, the Board also announced a whopping prize amount of 1 Crore to Neeraj Chopra, who won the first Gold Medal for India in Men’s Javelin throw category. The reward is announced after a historical win for India as he became the first-ever athletic gold medalist in India. He also becomes the second-ever individual to reach this milestone.

Meanwhile, the Indian Hockey Men’s Team would be receiving a sum of 1.25 crore as a reward of appreciation from the Board respectively.
