Former Australian spin bowler Brad Hogg recently gave his opinion on who is the better captain between current Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma and former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni. Almost all fans would answer that they are two of the most successful captains in the Indian Premier League.
While Sharma has won five trophies as the captain of the Mumbai Indians franchise, Dhoni won four trophies as the Chennai Super Kings skipper before stepping down as the leader of the franchise. Now that Dhoni will not lead the Chennai Super Kings team, it will be very difficult for any player to break Rohit’s record for the most IPL title wins.
In a recent vlog on his YouTube channel, Brad Hogg said that even though Sharma has won more trophies than Dhoni, fans should note that the win percentage matters more, which is why, in his opinion, Dhoni is the best captain.
“Dhoni has captained 204 games at a 60-odd percent win ratio. No one is going to break that record of captaining more than 100 games so Dhoni is the best captain going around,” said Hogg.
Brad Hogg feels Rohit Sharma winning more titles than MS Dhoni does not matter
Hogg further mentioned that Sharma has won five trophies, while Dhoni has won four, but that does not mean Rohit is a better captain than Dhoni.
“Rohit Sharma has won five titles with Mumbai Indians while MS Dhoni has won four titles in the IPL. But does it mean that Rohit Sharma is a better captain than Dhoni? No, it doesn’t,” he added.
A new era will begin for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022 as Ravindra Jadeja will captain the franchise for the first time ever. It will be exciting to see how the Chennai-based team performs under their new leader.
