The Rajasthan Royals have made a massive announcement ahead of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. The inaugural IPL champions have roped in former Mumbai Indians star Lasith Malinga as their fast bowling coach for the upcoming season. Malinga, who is the leading wicket-taker in IPL history, will return to the league in a new role.
The IPL 2022 Mega Auction was a great one for the Rajasthan Royals as they managed to sign big names like Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shimron Hetmyer, Navdeep Saini, Devdutt Padikkal, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jimmy Neesham at the auction. They already had former Sri Lankan cricket team skipper Kumar Sangakkara as their Director of Cricket.
And now they have added one more former Sri Lankan captain to their staff. He is none other than Lasith Malinga, who gave sleepless nights to the opposition batters during his time as an active cricketer. Not many batters could tackle Malinga’s fiery deliveries.
He mastered the art of varying the pace and delivering perfect yorkers. Malinga is a former IPL Purple Cap winners who played a vital role in the Mumbai Indians’ success in the previous seasons.
