The 42nd match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League happened last night between the Punjab Kings and the Lucknow Super Giants, where LSG emerged victorious by 20 runs. Even though LSG managed only 153 runs in their 20 overs, they returned with a 20-run victory thanks to some great captaincy from their leader KL Rahul.
Fans were impressed with the way Rahul used his bowlers and placed the fielders for the specific bowler. Uncapped pacer Mohsin Khan stole the show with figures of 4-1-24-3. He dismissed the trio of Liam Livingstone, Kagiso Rabada and Rahul Chahar. Sri Lankan fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera supported him with figures of 2/17, while Krunal Pandya conceded only 11 runs in his four overs, bowled a maiden over and also picked up two wickets.
Pandya was adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning spell. The left-arm spinner stole the show with his economical spell. The fine bowling performance from Lucknow should not take the attention from the fact that Punjab Kings made a good effort to restrict LSG to 153/8 in their 20 overs.
“I was disappointed to be honest (with the total). I was fuming after the first innings because it was stupid cricket with the bat. The experienced guys in the team…it does happen but we did talk in the timeout that it’s a tricky pitch. 160 we felt would have been a respectable total. A couple of bad shots and the run out but this was the bowlers’ game,” said KL Rahul after the match.
