Rishabh Pant has been out of the action in competitive cricket since December 2022. The 26-year-old suffered a horrible car accident while going to his hometown to celebrate New Year’s Eve with his family. But he lost the balance of the car, and it hit the divider and caught fire.

Pant was lucky, and he came out of the burning car with the help of the locals. He went through a number of surgeries and has shown a great recovery since then. But the biggest question is when he will be back on the cricket field.

Pant is currently completing his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangaluru. And now, some media reports are circulating that the Delhi Capitals are all set to use Pant in the coming 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. The franchise is planning to play Pant as an “impact player” during the games.

This rule was introduced by the BCCI in the 2023 season. It gives the team the option of replacing a member of the playing XI from the list of announced substitutes. Hence, the 26-year-old can make his comeback in the coming IPL season.

As per the report by RevSportz, the Delhi management is planning to utilize Pant in the IPL 2024. Notably, DC had a poor performance in the middle order in the last season. As an impact player, Pant can bat, and he doesn’t need to keep wickets.

Pant’s return will be a massive confidence booster for the Delhi Capitals. They had a poor campaign in 2023 and became the first team to be eliminated after five consecutive defeats to start with. Under David Warner, they won only five games out of 14. Pant has been a consistent batter for DC and has scored the most runs. He has made 2838 runs in 98 games at an average and strike rate of 34.61 and 147.97, respectively.
