In an unexpected move, David Warner finds himself excluded from social media interactions with his previous IPL team, Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Australian cricketer successfully led the Orange Army to their only IPL triumph in 2016, showcasing his peak form while representing the team based in Hyderabad.

Despite amassing over 6,000 runs and securing the Orange Cap thrice, Warner’s association with the management soured over time.

Beginning his IPL journey with the Delhi Capitals in 2009 (then Delhi Daredevils), Warner’s stint extended until 2013, after which he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2015, contributing significantly to their title victory in the subsequent season. Despite initial success, Warner’s relationship with the team took a downturn, leading to his removal from captaincy in 2021, with Kane Williamson taking over.

Subsequently, the left-handed batsman faced a setback, being excluded from the playing XI in the latter part of the season. This decision wasn’t performance-related but rather a consequence of undisclosed issues between Warner and the support staff, occurring behind closed doors.

In the 2022 auction, Warner was acquired by Delhi Capitals for ₹6.25 crore, where he assumed the captaincy role in the following season. Interestingly, it was Warner himself who disclosed that he had been blocked by his former team.

Meanwhile in the IPL 2024 Auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad went all out to secure the services of Warner’s Australian teammate and captain Pat Cummins for whopping 20.50 Crore.
