In a recent interview, the former Indian cricketer spoke about the growing depression among the cricketers. He feels that players should avoid playing in the IPL if they feel too much pressure. He wants the cricketers to play the game to enjoy and not be a pressure cooker.

“I hear a lot of times on TV that there’s a lot of pressure on players to play in the IPL. Then I only say one thing, don’t play. If a player has passion, there will be no pressure. I can’t understand these American terms, like depression. I’m a farmer and we play because we enjoy the game, and there can’t be any pressure while enjoying the game,” Kapil said.

The 63-year-old also shared his views on the recent massive controversy when Deepti Sharma ran out an English woman cricketer in an ODI match. While many lashed out at the cricketer for her doing, many came forward to defend her, stating that whatever she did was well within the laws of the game.

“In a situation like this, I feel instead of intense debates every time – there should be a simple rule. Deprive the batsmen of their run. It should be deemed a short run. It’s a better solution in my mind,” Kapil had said.

Team India have already begun their preparations for the T20 World Cup in Australia. They will face arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23 and it’s expected to be a high voltage game as usual. It will be interesting to see how far Rohit Sharma’s side can reach this time as they had failed to breach the group stage in the 2021 edition.
