Archer was ruled out of the 2021-22 Ashes series because of an injury. In his absence, the England Test cricket team failed to perform well and lost the series by a scoreline of 0-4. They saved the fourth Test just by one wicket, otherwise it would have been a 5-0 drubbing.

Due to his injury issues, Archer has not played in IPL, T20 World Cup and Ashes. In a recent chat with Daily Mail, he expressed his feelings and said:

“Watching the Ashes, I felt like I had let everyone down a little bit, when you see fast bowlers taking 90 per cent of the wickets – but you don’t get injured on purpose.”

Archer added that the last 12 months have taught him that he can plan as much as he wants but there will be something that will always alter his plans. He highlighted how injury was not in his hand and can happen to anyone at any point of time in sport.
