Mumbai Indians fought an intense bidding war at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction to sign Indian cricket’s rising star N Tilak Verma for INR 1.7 crore. Fans should note that Verma has never played in the IPL before, but he has represented India at the U-19 level and also done well in domestic cricket.
Many members of the cricket universe would have watched the video of N Tilak Verma celebrating the IPL Auction 2022 success with his friend at home. At that time, he was on a video call with his coach, and in a recent interview with the Mumbai Indians, Tilak recalled that time and said that he could see a tear in coach’s eyes as the Mumbai-based franchise signed him.
Verma spoke about a lot of things in the interview, including how he and his friends would have unique rules for gully cricket. They always focused to hitting sixes, and if anyone preferred to take singles, they would have to bat the number 11 position.
Like almost every successful cricketer, Verma knew from an early age that if he works hard, he can play for India one day. He said in the interview that he used to practice from 6 AM to 6 PM everyday in order to sharpen his cricketing skills.

During the interview, Tilak Verma was asked which team he was looking forward to playing against in the IPL 2022 season. Interestingly, he named the defending champions Chennai Super Kings as that team.
“I think that would be CSK. I have admired MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja for a long time, so doing well and winning a match for MI against them will give me great confidence,” he replied.
