Chennai Super Kings scripted a famous last-ball win against the Mumbai Indians last night in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. In the first El Clasico match of the season, MS Dhoni finished things off in style by scoring 16 runs off the last four balls against Jaydev Unadkat. While Unadkat could not help his team win the match, CSK’s left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary won the Man of the Match award for his three-wicket haul.

The Chennai Super Kings skipper Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and opted to field first at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

The decision worked in his team’s favor as CSK picked up the big wickets of Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma in the first over itself. Mukesh Choudhary dismissed Rohit caught out and soon after bamboozled Kishan with a terrific yorker.

Later in the innings, Choudhary accounted for the wicket of Dewald Brevis to complete his first three-wicket haul in IPL history. He could have taken another wicket as well, but Dwayne Bravo dropped Tilak Verma’s catch while standing in the slip region.

Mukesh Choudhary won the Man of the Match award for the first time in his IPL career

Thanks to his brilliant bowling performance, Chennai Super Kings registered a three-wicket win against the Mumbai Indians. Mukesh was rightfully adjudged the Player of the Match for his stupendous bowling performance.

Here’s what the left-arm pacer said about his journey as a cricketer in a chat with Harsha Bhogle at the post-match presentation:

“It’s been a different journey – I never thought I’d play cricket in the first place. My parents put me in a boarding school in Pune where we played all sports. Then when I got into junior college I lost interest in studies so I decided to give cricket a try.”
