“I must admit”- Ishan Kishan explains why his heart skipped a beat during IPL 2022 Auction

Indian cricket team’s star wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan has disclosed that his heart skipped a beat during the bidding war for him at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Eventually, the Mumbai Indians signed him for INR 15.25 crore as Kishan emerged as the most expensive player from the mega auction.

The youngster entered the mega auction with a base price of INR 2 crore. Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings were the first two franchises to bid for the former India U-19 cricket team captain. The two teams took the price to 7.75 crore when the Gujarat Titans jumped in with a bid of 8 crore. Gujarat and Mumbai took the price to INR 12 crore, and then the Sunrisers Hyderabad showed interest in Kishan.

In the end, the Mumbai Indians secured the wicket-keeper batter’s services for INR 15.25 crore. Speaking to Times of India, Ishan Kishan revealed how he felt during the mega auction. He was happy to see the auction, but he also wanted the Mumbai Indians to save money to build a proper squad.

“The worrying part was the rising price because MI needed to save on money to build the rest of the team. It wasn’t just about me. For a minute there, I must admit, my heart skipped a beat,” said Kishan.

During the same interview, Ishan Kishan added that the Mumbai Indians knew him well and understood his game properly, which is why he did not wish to go to any other franchise.

“We’ve won two trophies, stood for each other and with each other, they know my cricket and I know they will take care of me. So, I didn’t want to go anywhere else,” the Mumbai Indians star concluded.
