Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showcased their dominance over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) once again with a convincing seven-wicket win in the 10th match of the IPL 2024, marking their sixth consecutive victory at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium against the Bengaluru-based team.

Despite an early setback with the loss of skipper Faf du Plessis, RCB managed to post a respectable total of 182/6, thanks to a remarkable innings by Virat Kohli, who remained unbeaten on 83 runs off 59 balls.

However, KKR’s batting prowess proved too much for RCB’s bowling attack to handle. Openers Phil Salt and Sunil Narine set the tone with a blazing start, with Narine’s all-round performance standing out. He contributed with both bat and ball, bagging a wicket and smashing 47 runs off just 22 balls, earning him the Player of the Match title.

RCB’s bowlers, including Mohammed Siraj, Alzarri Joseph, and Yash Dayal, struggled to contain the flow of runs, conceding over 11 runs per over. This lack of control allowed KKR to comfortably chase down the target in 16.5 overs, with ample balls to spare.

In the aftermath of this defeat, which pushed RCB to the sixth position in the points table, former England captain Michael Vaughan raised doubts about the franchise’s prospects in the IPL, expressing his concerns on social media. “Impossible for @RCBTweets to win the IPL with this bowling attack,” posted Vaughan on X (formerly Twitter).
