Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are one of the highest followed franchises in IPL. Every time these two squads take to the field, the TRP usually skyrockets. Not to mention, when CSK and RCB meet, the whole of India gets glued to the TV set.

Both these teams have been involved in some exciting contests over the years. However, this time around, we could see them fight on the auction-table too. RCB and CSK are in dire need of success, and hence, they will be active at the auctions. Although RCB has a bigger purse than CSK, it is RCB who has to fill more slots and hence the battle is even. In this article, we take a look at five players who could trigger a bidding war between CSK and RCB.

1. Dawid Malan

Dawid Malan will be one player whom many teams would have their eyes on at the auctions. ICC’s No.1 T20 batsman at the moment, the Englishman has been in scintillating form in recent months. His stats are also excellent, and there is a strong belief that he would succeed in IPL. RCB must invest in a player who can reduce the dependency on Virat and ABD. On the other hand, CSK needs a guy who can add the attacking firepower to the batting unit. Malan is a suitable option, and therefore, he can be at the centre of interests from both teams.

2. Glenn Maxwell

Although Maxwell has been underfiring in IPL, his credentials as a T20 batsman has not gone down. He is still rated highly in this format. Apart from his skillset, Maxwell also extracts a strategy or two from the opposition with his presence in the XI. Not to mention, he is a good right-arm offie too. While CSK must replace Shane Watson, RCB needs a player in place of Moeen Ali. Maxwell fits the bill and could set the auction on fire with his name under the hammer.

3. Alex Hales

Shane Watson announced his retirement from the game after the end of IPL 2020. RCB recently released Aussie import, Aaron Finch, back to the auctions. Now, naturally, both teams must go for an opener at the auctions. Although there are plenty of options, Alex Hales is one player who is in the destructive form at the moment, and will therefore extract interest. RCB and CSK might both target the Englishman, and in the process, we could have an exciting war of bids between the franchises.

4. Shivam Dube

Although RCB released Shivam Dube, they might still go back for him. Shivam is a power-hitter who can also offer a few overs of medium pace. He may not be in good IPL form, but he is learning the tricks and is in the track of improvement. CSK has to replace Kedar Jadhav in the squad. A good option might be Shivam Dube, who is multi-dimensional and just the way MSD likes. Hence, there is a possibility that the Mumbai all-rounder could lead to a bidding war between CSK and RCB.

5. Chetan Sakariya

The 22-year-old left-arm seamer from Saurashtra could be a dark horse at the auctions. He did well at SMAT and was one of the leading wicket-takers of the tournament. Both CSK and RCB have front-line left-arm seamers in the form of Sam Curran and Daniel Sams respectively. Since both are foreigners, a move to include a domestic option is likely. Of the options available, C Sakariya seems to be the best choice.
