Ever since Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of IPL 2022 due to an injury, there have been multiple reports that all is not well between the player and the franchise. The area that disappointed Jadeja was when captaincy duties were taken back from him after CSK struggled in the opening games of the season.
Jadeja, who was announced as MS Dhoni’s successor, couldn’t fit himself as a captain and hence, the franchise decided to take the duties from him. Dhoni played the captaincy role for the rest of the season but it left Jadeja with a feeling of discomfort. He developed a feeling that he wasn’t given enough time and space to adjust in his new role.
As per multiple reports, Jadeja is likely to part ways with CSK ahead of next IPL season. Here’s a look at three players who can be traded for Ravindra Jadeja:
1) Krunal Pandya
Krunal Pandya is a like-to-like replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, though the quality of cricketers is very different. Krunal can be a valuable bowling option as he bowls effectively and is street-smart. On top of that, he can also contribute some runs with the bat.
Though the best version of the Baroda-based cricketer is yet to come, he could be a long-term option for the Yellow Army. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Krunal can improve drastically and become a core member of the side.
2) Shahbaz Ahmed
Shahbaz Ahmed also offers similar services to that of Ravindra Jadeja. He represented RCB in the previous season but failed to deliver up to expectations. Though he was brilliant with the bat, he didn’t have a great outing with the ball in his hand.
The 27-year-old all-rounder could be a long-term investment for CSK. His ability to score runs will be useful for the Chennai-based franchise. With MS Dhoni behind the stumps, Ahmed can be used as per the needs of the game.
3) Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar is a top-quality cricketer who, if used effectively, can be an impactful player for any franchise. He has a special ability to bowl economically in the powperplay overs with the new ball.
Moreover, he can be used as an opener who can take on bowlers from ball one. He is an experienced opener as he is regularly open for his state team and has great numbers in the role.
