Coincidentally, KL Rahul‘s score at the end of Day 1 against South Africa also reads 122*. Moreover, Rahul has scored a century on the opening day of a Tour outside Asia. He also happens to be the second Indian opener after Murali Vijay to do it. Hence, it is interesting to note that both openers have attained the exact record seven years apart.

Team India has a great chance in the first game

Team India has put up 272 runs on the board with the loss of just three wickets. There are two set batsmen in and hence, if India can tackle the first hour on Day 2, there could be a big score on the cards. This can rule out an India loss as a result possibility. India’s chances to win the game will also improve. The onus will be on the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur to add a few quick runs when they get an opportunity. This could swing the momentum towards India. The bowlers need to remain at their best to utilize the conditions and help India win the game.
