Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell recently selected his top 5 T20 players ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Maxwell, who is currently playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, decided against picking his RCB teammates Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal in the list. His list of top 5 players comprises two players from Australia and one each from West Indies, England and Afghanistan.

The list of Maxwell’s top 5 T20 players begins with the leg-spin bowler from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan. The former Afghanistan cricket team captain has performed exceptionally well with the ball in the shortest format of the game. Khan is set to play for his country in the T20 World Cup.

The next name on this list is of West Indies cricket team star Andre Russell. Describing why he picked Andre, Glenn Maxwell said, “Someone who’ll add anything to any T20 side.” Russell is one of the most destructive finishers in T20 cricket. On top of that, he can also take a few wickets with his right-arm pace.

The third player is English all-rounder Ben Stokes. Like Russell, Stokes has the ability to win matches with his batting, bowling and fielding skills. Unfortunately, Stokes is not expected to be a part of the upcoming T20 World Cup. The reason behind it is that the New Zealand-based player is on a break for mental well-being.

Maxwell picks two former Australian cricketers in his list of Top 5 T20 players

The last two names to appear on Maxwell’s list are former Australian wicket-keeper batter Adam Gilchrist and former Australian pace bowler Shaun Tait. The two players were a part of the Australian side during its golden era. While Gilchrist could turn the game with his big hits, Tait could stun the opposition batters with his pace.
