In a recent interaction, former Indian cricket team batter Navjot Singh Sidhu has rated former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli as the best Indian batter, comparing him to the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and MS Dhoni.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season is almost upon us and the excitement among the fans are heating up. Virat Kohli’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bangaluru) held a special event called RCB Unbox to reveal their jersey for the new season, which has further boosted the hype among the fans before opening match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangaluru on 22nd of March.
But before that, former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has further added fuel to the hype. In his interaction with the India Today ahead of IPL 2024, Navjot Singh Sidhu stated that he rates Virat Kohli as the best Indian batter over the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and MS Dhoni.
“Have rated him as the best Indian batter ever. There are eras where I would put up my transistor and listen to Sunil Gavaskar bat against the West Indies, those are the 70s. He dominated for almost 15-20 years. Then came Tendulkar, another era. Then came Dhoni, and then came Virat. If you look at the four, I would rate him (Kohli) as the best because he has adapted to all three formats,” stated Sidhu.
There is no doubt that Virat Kohli is one of the best batter to play the game. He most recently completed 13,000 runs in ODI format, the fastest to do so, and also scored 50 centuries in the same format. He is also the highest run getter in IPL history, having scored 7,263 runs in 237 IPL matches in his career.
Navjot Singh Sidhu to make return to commentary for IPL 2024
Meanwhile, according to many reports, it is believed that Navjot Singh Sidhu is set to make his return to the commentary box for the upcoming IPL 2024 with the Star Sports Network. Navjot Singh Sidhu won many hearts with his commentary when the IPL was in its OG days with the Sony Sports Network. Upon the break of the rumour, the OG IPL fans are further excited for the IPL 2024 to commence on the 22nd of March.
