Just 15 days before their high-voltage ICC T20 World Cup 2021 opener against the Indian cricket team, the Pakistan cricket team have announced that they have made three changes to their old squad for the mega event. Former Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has made a return to the team.

Another big name that has returned to the squad is the left-handed opening batter Fakhar Zaman. Both Ahmed anad Zaman were part of the Pakistan squad that defeated the Indian cricket team in the final of the 2017 edition of the Champions Trophy organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Announcing the changes via a press release, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chief selector Wasim Muhammad said:

“After reviewing player performances in the highly-competitive National T20 and in consultation with the team management, we have decided to include Haider Ali, Fakhar Zaman and Sarfaraz Ahmed in the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. The three in-form players bring with them wealth of experience and talent, and provide further stability, balance and strength to the side.”

Which players did Pakistan Cricket Board drop from their original 15-man T20 World Cup 2021 squad?

Pakistan Cricket Board have decided to drop the trio of Khushdil Shah, Azam Khan and Mohammed Hasnain from their T20 World Cup squad. Many fans questioned the selection of Shah and Khan when the squad was announced. Even Hasnain had not been in good touch of late. Since Fakhar Zaman, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Haider Ali know how to perform well, they can make the Pakistan team stronger.

The Pakistan cricket team has fielded even stronger squads in the past but never been able to defeat the Indian cricket team in the ICC T20 World Cup matches. This year, the two teams are set to cross swords on October 24 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
