Gujarat Titans had a spectacular outing at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. The Ahmedabad-based franchise retained five players from their IPL 2024 squad, namely Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tewatia, Shahrukh Khan and Sai Sudharsan.
At the mega auction, the Titans roped in England’s white-ball skipper Jos Buttler along with South African speedsters Kagiso Rabada and Gerald Coetzee plus the Indian pace duo of Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj. Overall, the GT squad looks pretty strong on paper. Here’s a glance at their probable playing XI plus Impact Player for the IPL 2025 tournament.
Openers of Gujarat Titans – Shubman Gill (c) and Jos Buttler (wk)
Shubman Gill is the captain of the Gujarat team, and he will continue to open the innings but with a new partner this time. English wicketkeeper batter Jos Buttler should be Gill’s opening partner. Gill won the Orange Cap in IPL 2023, and Buttler won the Orange Cap in the season before that. Gujarat will be unstoppable if this pair gets going at the top.
Middle Order – Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, Glenn Phillips, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan and Washington Sundar
The best thing about this year’s GT squad is the depth available in the team in the all-rounders’ section. Sai Sudharsan will be the specialist batter at number three. Retained player Shahrukh Khan should bat at number four, while at number five, GT can use either Glenn Phillips or Sherfane Rutherford.
For the finishing department, GT can rely on their tried and tested duo of Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan. GT also have capped Indian spin bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar to make the middle-order even stronger.
Bowlers – Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, R Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna (Impact Player)
Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada should share the new ball for the Titans, while Prasidh Krishna can bowl in the middle overs. R Sai Kishore can be the main spinner of this team, joined by Khan and Sundar, providing skipper Gill with an option each as a left-arm spinner, right-arm leg-spinner and right-arm off-spinner.
