BCCI has selected the squad for the Ireland T20I series. The tournament will happen later this month in August. At around the same time, BCCI is planning a camp at NCA for those in the setup for the ODI World Cup. Hence, most of the regulars have not been selected for the event. On that note, here, we predict India’s strongest playing XI for the Ireland T20I series.
It would be a fine test for many of the youngsters. For the likes of Bumrah, it would be the right time to regain some fitness ahead of the ODI World Cup.
Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad
It will be an interesting opening combination in the form of Jaiswal and Ruturaj. Both have been in good touch in the IPL and it will be a good test for both the players. Since India does not have other genuine opening options, the duo is likely to play all the games.
Middle-Order: Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma (WK)
It will be a versatile middle-order for Team India. There is a mix of youth and experience and there are a couple of left-handed options, as well. While Rinku Singh might act as the lead finisher, Sanju Samson will be expected to hold this middle-order together.
All-Rounders: Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar will be the sole all-rounder in India’s strongest playing XI for the Ireland T20I series. It will be an excellent opportunity for Washi to get back into the setup. Shahbaz Ahmed will be his only competitor.
Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah (C), Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna and Arshdeep Singh
It will be a strong pace attack for India’s strongest playing XI for the Ireland T20I series. While Bumrah will lead this squad, Prasidh and Arshdeep are two promising pacers in the line-up. Ravi Bishnoi will be the lead spinner in this XI.
