The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s President Sourav Ganguly has spoken on whether there is any possibilities of resumption of Bilateral series between India and Pakistan.

The two neighbours, the arch-rivals in cricket, have not met in a Bilateral series for quite the some time. The last time these 2 countries played a Bilateral series was during the 2012-2013 season.

It was not the case all the while, as India and Pakistan used to play number of Bilateral series quite some years before. But the scenario has changed considerably due to the political issues between the Nations.

Nowadays, India and Pakistan meet only in multi-team tournament, the likes of ICC World Cup events or the Asia Cup.

Sourav Ganguly opens up on India Pakistan Bilateral series

Speaking on whether there is any possibilities of resumption of Bilateral series between India and Pakistan, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly stated that it is not in the hands of cricketing boards.

The teams meet only in world tournaments and it is the Government of the both countries that needs work on this for India and Pakistan to Bilateral series, stated Sourav Ganguly during the 40th Sharjah International Book Fair on 13th of November.

Speaking on the same, Pakistan Cricket Board President Ramiz Raja said that it is impossible right now for India and Pakistan to play any Bilateral series. He continued that the sport has been spoiled by the politics and intends to focus more on their domestic cricket than getting busy on India vs Pakistan Bilateral series.

India and Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2021

India and Pakistan most recently met in the T20 World Cup 2021, on the 24th of October, where the Men in Green for the first time defeated India in a World Cup event, and that too by a massive 10 wickets to margin, chasing India’s target of 152 runs.

While India couldn’t reach the Semi-Finals of the T20 World Cup 2021, Pakistan qualified as group topper, but crashed out to Australia in the semi-final. Australia will face New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup 2021, on Sunday, the 14th of November.
