The third week of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) has begun, and all the teams have played 3–4 games already. Some teams have gotten off to a flying start, while others are still searching for the right combination. Meanwhile, the race to win the Orang cap has also begun.

Currently, the former RCB skipper Virat Kohli has the Orange Cap with him, and he has gone past the 200 runs in the tournament. Riyan Parag, Heinrich Klaasen, and Shubman Gill are not far behind in this race. Well, it is very difficult to predict who will win the Orange Cap in the IPL 2024.

But former Indian pacer S. Sreesanth made a bold claim. He feels that former MI captain Rohit Sharma will be the top contender to score the most runs in the competition. Notably, Mumbai Indians have started poorly. It looks like the change in captaincy has affected the performance.

They have lost all three games against Hardik Pandya so far. It has made the fans angry. Well, the former pacer feels that without the captaincy burden, Rohit can play freely more and contribute to MI’s success in the ongoing tournament.

In an interview with Star Sports, Sreesanth said, “As far as I know, Rohit would look to bat freely, without any captaincy burden, and may take the orange cap too, and is going to have a great season.” Rohit has scored 69 runs in three innings at 23 with a strike rate of 164.28 so far.

His form is very important for MI, which is struggling at the moment. Not only MI, Rohit’s coming into form will also benefit the Indian team because the T20 World Cup 2024 is also not far away. He will be leading India in the mega event, and his runs will be crucial. The former MI captain will be in action on Sunday at Wankhede Stadium against Delhi Capitals.
